How Interior Designers Can Partner With a Custom Cabinet Shop

A productive cabinetry partnership separates design intent, technical coordination and approval authority. Give the shop enough information to understand the composition while making responsibility for unresolved details explicit.

01

Submit a coherent design brief

Include the room scope, relevant plans and elevations, appliance information and finish intent. Identify which details are essential to the design and which can be developed with the fabricator. Label reference images as inspiration rather than manufacturing instructions. A photograph can communicate proportions or character without defining construction. Ask LeVika to confirm the information needed to review the scope instead of assuming that a concept package already contains every technical input required for production.

02

Establish the decision chain

Name the person who resolves design questions, the person who approves commercial changes and the client's final approver. Agree where revisions and responses will be recorded. Avoid parallel instructions in separate email threads that leave the shop to determine which one governs. If the client requests a change directly, connect it to the design and scope review before manufacture. The project workspace can retain decisions and messages, but the team still needs a clearly identified current drawing package.

03

Confirm delivery boundaries

LeVika's confirmed B2B scope is manufacturing and delivery without installation. Assign field coordination, receiving, installation and adjacent trades accordingly. The owner reports typical B2B production of approximately three to four weeks from contract signing, subject to the actual scope and project agreement. Confirm capacity and dates for the particular package rather than treating a general range as a reservation. The partnership works best when the design ambition, technical questions and delivery responsibilities remain connected throughout approval and release.

Three questions to bring.

  • Which details are fixed design intent, and which can the shop develop?
  • Who approves design changes, commercial changes and the final package?
  • Who receives the delivery and installs the cabinetry?
